Effects of Root Pruning on Adventitious Root Formation, Enzyme Activities, and Hormone Levels in Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Fengdanbai’ Seedlings

چکیده

Root pruning during early root development can optimize the structure of woody plants. To determine effects on tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa), seedlings cultivar ‘Fengdanbai’ were subjected to varying degrees or different styles pruning. Various indexes analyzed, including anatomical root, vitality, activity levels antioxidant enzymes, and contents endogenous hormones their ratios. Comprehensive morphological observation showed that freshly germinated roots are 3 cm long by 1/3 (i.e., removing 1 cm) yielded greatest rooting rate (90%), lateral initiation (2.34 per seedling), subsequent growth. Analysis physiological biochemical indicators critical period (3-5 days after pruning) superoxide dismutase abscisic acid (ABA) decreased, while oxidase activities peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, indole acetate acetic (IAA), gibberellin (GA3), zeatin (ZT) increased. IAA plays a key role in process adventitious formation ratios IAA/GA3, IAA/ABA, IAA/ZT reflect hormone homeostasis formation. IAA/ABA higher values pruned compared control roots, which favor induction elongation. These results provide basis for study peony.

Root Pruning Loblolly Pine Seedlings Effect on Survival and Growth

In a three year study, IOOderate and severe root pruning just before planting was compared to no root pruning, on two size classes of seedlings (smaller and larger than average). Seedlings were bar planted in holes the full depth of the planting bar blade. For the smaller seedlings, survival was 1.0 percentage point higher for moderate pruning and 5.6 points lower for severe pruning compared to...

Biochemical Basis of Adventitious Root Formation on Etiolated Stem Segments

Segments (2.5-cm-long) of Populus nigra L. obtained from etiolated axillary branches did not root in water or auxin alone, but rooted in 0.5% ribose, glucose and sucrose and more profusely with 0.1 mg/1 in dole-acetic acid (IAA) or in dolebutyric acid (IBA) added to the medium. 5-fluorodeoxyuridine (FUDR), 5-fluorouracil (FU), actinomycin-D and cycloheximide inhibited rooting. The deoxyribonucl...

The use of medicinal herbs for the treatment of epilepsy has long been common, but these effectors have been less successful. According to glutamate theory, the cause of epilepsy is t...

Involvement of cytokinins in adventitious and lateral root formation

The root systems of higher plant consist of primary, lateral, and adventitious roots. There is a current hypothesis, named ‘root apical dominance’, that root-derived suppressor negatively regulates the formation of adventitious and lateral roots. According to this hypothesis, we have studied the mechanisms involved in the regulation of adventitious and lateral root formation. trans-zeatin ribos...
